Learn about Factory Certification

A Quick Overview.

Validity

Unlike Factory Certificates, a Shipment Halal Certificate only has an issue date and is valid for a specific shipment.

Producers and Importers

The producer, importer, and exporter are to be listed and mentioned onto the Shipment Certificate for traceability and validation.

Product Descriptions

The certificate has an appendix which lists the approved products to be exported. In general, the appendix includes the article numbers, the product names, descriptions, and brand names.

E-Portal

For security purposes, all Shipment Certificates can only be requested upon through the HQC E-Portal after registering on our website.

This is in addition to being Halal certified.

More information on Shipment Certification

Definition of a Halal Shipment Certificate

A certificate of conformity awarded by Halal Quality Control to the customer.

This document, issued by Halal Quality Control or another Halal Certification Body, is specific to a shipment from an approved manufacturer or facility.
It’s typically used by slaughterhouses exporting fresh or frozen [Type HA] meat but can be used by any type of company as well other than slaughtering plants [Type HB].
Key details include the producer, importer, exporter, health certificate number [if applicable], product quantities (in kilograms or liters), production and expiry dates, product description, a valid signature by an approved signatory, a QR code linking to the HQC website, and a unique reference number.

A Halal Factory Certificate is different from a Halal Shipment Certificate.

Differences between a Factory and a Shipment Certificate

A Factory Certificate is a general conformity certificate declaring that a customer can produce Halal products or provide services which are Halal suitable. This is valid for a period of 1 to 3 years and enlists the products or services approved upon.

The Halal Shipment Certificate is specifically linked to a shipment from an approved manufacturer or facility. This certificate is typically used by slaughterhouses exporting fresh or frozen [Type HA] meat but can be used by any type of company as well other than slaughtering plants [Type HB].

Please note that Shipment Certificates are sometimes mandatory and cannot be replaced by a Factory Certificate.

When is it Needed?

Mostly when exporting products to the Middle East region.

It could be a requirement from foreign authorities where Halal Factory Certificates are not an accepted format.

We refer to the Halal Standardsor local guidelines to confirm the required Halal certificate formats.
